Sky is excited to launch its third Sky Returners Programme in partnership with Women Returners, designed to support talented professionals who following an extended career break are looking to transition back into the workplace. This year’s programme will focus on a number of positions across Sky’s Technology, Product and Finance business areas.

What is the Sky Returners Programme?

The programme will take the form of a paid six-month placement, commencing in April 2021. At the end of the programme you will be well placed to apply for permanent opportunities at Sky.

You will be placed on a project or in a team where your skills and experience will be highly valued and utilised. Sky understands that transitioning back to work after an extended break can sometime be daunting, so they will support you with coaching workshops from Women Returners, focused training and dedicated mentoring support.

Due to current coronavirus restrictions, Sky foresees you will join initially on a remote basis, but in time they hope to move to a hybrid working model, flexing your time working from home and in the Sky offices. A range of flexible working options are available, dependent on the role so there will be an opportunity to discuss this if your application is successful.

The programme is designed for people who have taken a break from their previous careers for two or more years and have experience working within any of the following positions:

Technology and Product

  • Programme / Project Manager/ Business Analysis
  • Delivery Manager
  • Developers
  • Testers
  • Scrum Masters
  • Engineers (Data, DevOps, Network, T&D)
  • Data Scientist
  • Product Lead / Product Owners / Product Managers
  • Cyber Security Specialist

Finance

  • Financial Manager (qualified accountant or equivalent experience)

Technology and Product

The following gives more details about the business areas of Technology and Product at Sky. Sky will consider where best to situate your placement, based on your skills, once they have met you. If your interest is in one or more specific areas, please explain that in your covering letter.

Product Hub – Product Hub is a multi-discipline, multi-territory team, united by one ambition – to create world-class products Sky’s customers will love. If you like research, proposition development, product strategy or are just thinking “what if”, you’ll enjoy this part of what they do.

Group Technology – Group Technology is responsible for all technology to the UK business, including customer and staff systems, broadband, fixed telephony, and mobile services, as well as the networks, infrastructure and systems throughout Sky. Cyber Security sits under this area and is one of the top priorities at Sky ensuring that their people, data and customers are safe.

Data, Technology and Analytics – Sky has made significant progress in improving their data and decisioning capability and they are now expanding their data office. They are seeking both technical and commercially driven individuals, who have a strong focus on practical & pragmatic use of data and a passion for connecting your work to directly to commercial outcomes, making a real and tangible impact to the business.

Finance

Commercial Finance – This is an opportunity to join Sky‘s Commercial Finance team, primarily focused on key financial deliverables. You will build strong relationships with the management teams for particular business areas, deliver accounting analysis, management and financial reporting, financial guidance and insight, including managing the budget and monthly results.
