About the programme
L&G is offering placements of 6 months starting in May 2021 with the strong likelihood of permanent employment at the end of the programme. Alongside the Career Returners Coaching Programme from Women Returners, you will be allocated with an internal mentor and a buddy for your day to day questions. As part of the returner programme, you will also benefit from a mixed company returner cohort.

Opportunities available – Investment Manager and Investment Analyst
Investment Manager
Legal & General Retirement Institutional (LGRI) is the UK’s longest-serving active bulk annuity provider. In the last 30 years they have written more UK business than any other insurer and currently look after over half a million pension policyholders. They are a market-leading and multi-award winning business.
They work with companies and pension scheme trustees to help them honour their Defined Benefit pension promises to their employees. They do this through bulk annuity insurance transactions or pension ‘buy-ins’ or ‘buyouts’, which enable pension trustees to secure their scheme members’ benefits with them. By doing this they:
- help companies to settle their pension liabilities and focus on growing their businesses
- help to support individuals’ financial security in retirement
- invest for the long term to back their pension promises
They have an opportunity as Investment Manager within their Investment Business Development team that would be perfect for someone looking to return to work following a career absence. You will have the opportunity to lead the proposal and execution of new asset classes and actively contribute to strategic investment projects and analysis.
You will get to work with cross-functional teams across the business to analyse and propose investment and risk framework, building the requisite internal governance.
They are looking for candidates with the following knowledge and experience:
- Quantitive and financial modelling skills
- Understanding of Insurance company balance sheets including both capital and profit reporting regimes
- Understanding of Solvency II regulatory framework
- Understanding of fixed income valuation concepts and models
- Capital markets knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes
Investment Analyst
Legal & General Investment Management manages fixed income, equity, multi-asset, liability-driven investment, property and alternative solutions on behalf of its clients. Located across the globe, their clients include institutional pension funds, financial institutions, local authorities and sovereign wealth funds. In order to meet the complex and evolving investment needs of their clients, they focus on remaining at the forefront of investment product innovation and maintaining their reputation as experts across all asset classes.
Due to internal progression and the growth of the Index team, they are looking to hire an Investment Analyst to provide support and implement the development on various in-house fund management tools, that assist their Fund Managers and Senior Fund Managers in the management of funds.
A varied role offering exposure to many internal teams within LGIM, individuals will need to have:
- proven experience of building internal relationships
- knowledge of the programming language Python
- knowledge of automating processes and working proactively to problem solve issues for their clients.
