LCP is excited to be partnering with Women Returners in the Diversity Project Cross-Company Returner programme.

Whatever the reason for your break, if you are looking to re-launch your career with a supportive, welcoming business then LCP would love to hear from you. They have opportunities available across their investment consulting department.

The Returner Programme

While the roles are based in their London or Winchester offices, the firm operates a flexible hybrid working policy for all employees meaning you can agree a work-from-home arrangement that works for you. Roles are also available on a full-time or part-time basis.

Throughout the first six months, as well as benefiting from formal coaching, networking and mentoring support from Women Returners, LCP will provide extensive technical training as well as monitoring and coaching to ensure your return to work is supported. This includes mentoring from previous Returners.

The programme is targeting professionals who have been on a career break for 18 months or more (as at April 2023). During your career break you may have worked on a small-scale or self-employed basis to fit around your other commitments, or have not done any paid work of a number of years.

Details on the roles

LCP is looking for self-motivated, driven and inquisitive people to join their Investment department. As an investment consultant at LCP, you will provide advice on all aspects of the investment arrangements of clients. You will be involved in designing bespoke and often complex investment strategies and then helping with their implementation. You will be involved in helping clients set and meet their investment and pension scheme funding objectives, including considering responsible investment, and a range of asset classes and asset management styles. You will also help with ongoing investment monitoring and supporting clients meet their regulatory requirements.

The investment consulting role combines analysis, problem solving, communication skills and project management in a dynamic area of the investment industry.

What experience is required

LCP welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds across the finance and investment industry who are looking for a new challenge. The work is predominantly with pension schemes, but training and support will be provided to candidates from other areas of finance that have the relevant transferrable skills.

Useful (but not essential) experience includes:

  • A background in finance or investment, ideally from within the investment/pensions consulting or asset management industries, but note other backgrounds will be considered
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g IMC, CFA or FIA), although full training and sponsorship for professional exams is also offered and part-qualified applicants are welcome
  • An understanding of the UK institutional pension scheme market

Other key skills that are required

While the role is analytical and requires knowledge of investment markets and asset classes used by institutional investors, building relationships internally and with clients is arguably the most important skill for candidates to demonstrate. Key skills include:

  • Confident communication skills and a desire to build relationships both internally and with external contacts
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills
  • A desire to get “stuck in” with a willingness to share ideas, collaborate with others and try new things
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how commercial pressures impact our clients and our business

Working at LCP

As well as joining a fun, collaborative, people orientated organisation where your personal and professional skills will be developed, LCP offers an attractive benefits package designed to promote your overall wellbeing. Flexible working is also supported and encouraged so that you are able to perform to your full potential both in and out of work.

LCP offer an inclusive workplace where all forms of diversity are valued, including age, background, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, religion or sexual orientation.
