DC Thomson brings its newly developed returners programme to you, part of Pathways, the company’s new approach to recruitment.

DC Thomson recognises that returning to the workplace can be a challenging time and is delighted to be partnering with Women Returners to launch its new 6-month returnship programme. The company is committed to supporting you at every stage of your journey, making the transition back into work as seamless as possible. Its Product & Technology and Insights, Data and Audience teams have identified a number of opportunities to make its returners programme a success. The programme will open for applications on 4 May.

  • Have the opportunity to meet with the hiring managers in small break-out rooms so that you can ask your questions directly

About the Programme

The programme offers a professionally-paid, six-month placement with the strong likelihood of permanent employment at the end of the programme. During your time on the programme, you’ll be leveraging your previous skills and experience to undertake a role in the business.  You’ll also be fully supported with:

  • Career returners coaching programme delivered by Women Returners
  • A ready-made peer support group, you’ll be joining the programme as a cohort
  • A mentor to help you navigate your return, DC Thomson has in place a hugely well-respected mentorship scheme that you will be part of
  • A learning-led culture where colleagues are given the support to enhance their careers
  • A buddy to ask your day-to-day questions

DC Thomson’s Product and Technology Function

As the largest digital transformation in the company’s history continues apace, the centralised Product and Technology team is a true engineering and product focused centre of excellence. The team is made up of Full-Stack Engineers, Front and Back-End Engineers, UI/UX talent, Product Owners, DevOps Engineers, Data focused skills and Agile thinkers. It focuses on the quality of products delivered, rather than the quantity and take pride in sharing expertise across the diverse range of DC Thomson brands.

DC Thomson’s Insight, Data and Audience Function

The Insight, Data and Audience (IDA) unit brings together the component parts in understanding audience behaviour, motivations, purposes and opportunities. IDA colleagues work as data analysts, social media and search specialists and performance and brand marketing experts.

The unit identifies needs, understands audience perceptions, develops user mindsets, uncovers pain points and feedbacks on how it might improve experience or better connect our brands and products with their needs.

It works across many areas of the business, from running audience development bootcamps with content teams, user testing with prototypes built by UX and digital product teams to supporting market discovery for new opportunities.

DC Thomson is looking for returners who are looking to get back into work after a break of at least 18 months. During your career break you may have been volunteering or working on a smaller-scale or may not have been in any paid employment for some time. You must have the right to work in the UK.
