Bloomberg invites people returning after a career break, and looking for an entry-level opportunity to start a career in fintech in 2022, to apply for their Women in Business Spring Insight Week in the areas of Analytics & Sales and Global Data. The week is designed to introduce you to Bloomberg’s work and culture, connect you to their diverse communities and help prepare you for a future professional career at Bloomberg.

This is an unpaid one week work experience opportunity, which is offered to candidates from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. During the week, you will have the opportunity to network with inspirational employees throughout the company, gain an insight into different areas of their daily work, build your professional skills as well as exploring future opportunities available.

About the Business Areas

Analytics:

Bloomberg Analytics provides 24/7 support for Bloomberg Professional Service users all over the world and across multiple industries. Reaching them via their ‘Instant Bloomberg’ chat system, clients access unparalleled customer service where the team answer their questions and help them maximise the value of Bloomberg’s products. On any given day the team responds to over 12,000 queries in more than 15 languages. From educating a portfolio manager on Bloomberg’s risk management solutions to helping a trader use their functionality to discover new sources of market liquidity – the variety of problems they solve is immense.

Bloomberg is constantly innovating and Analytics plays a key role in ensuring clients are educated on new products and enhancements by proactively working closely to upskill them through technology, and delivering on-site training and seminars. They also work in conjunction with Enterprise Sales to deliver on strategic initiatives, supporting product roll-out and onboarding clients. They want to ensure their clients are making the most of their service and using tools and features that allow them to work smarter.

Sales:

Bloomberg’s Sales team strives to maximise growth, usage and dependency on Bloomberg’s offerings by building strong client relationships, understanding their needs, and demonstrating proven expertise in the financial markets. It is crucial they stay one step ahead, pre-empting their clients’ needs and presenting them with ground breaking solutions, before they even know they need them.

Global Data:

Bloomberg runs on data, and data drives the market. The Global Data team acquires and supplies this data to their clients. Teams work collaboratively to collect, analyse, process and publish the data which is the backbone of the iconic Bloomberg Terminal – the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets.

In Global Data, you will apply your problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, implement technical solutions to enhance their systems, products and processes, establish links with key players in the financial market by providing exceptional client support, and manage the financial data that feeds the Bloomberg Terminal.

You can expect to:

  • Explore the company, culture and meet members of their diverse communities (incl. the Women’s Community)
  • Learn about Bloomberg’s departments (focusing on Analytics & Sales and Global Data)
  • Collaborate with other candidates and take part in a team project
  • Network with Bloomberg’s employees; attend workshops focused on female empowerment
  • Successful participants will have the opportunity to interview for a full-time, entry-level role in the Analytics & Sales or Global Data department starting in 2022, once requisitions have opened

If you are interested, you will need to:

  • Be available to attend the full week in early April 2021
  • Be available to start in a full-time role in 2022
  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in the FinTech industry
  • Fluency in another European language (or Japanese or Korean), in addition to English, is a plus
  • For Analytics & Sales: A desire to pursue a client-facing career, with a strong interest in relationship management and sales
  • For Global Data: Have a strong passion for data, technology and finance; Be familiar with information technology/statistical analysis/computer programming (i.e. VBA, SQL, MATLAB, Python, Advanced Excel)
