Very are launching their first returner programme and working in partnership with Women Returners to support people who have taken an extended career break of two or more years back into the workplace.

What to expect from The Very Group’s Career Reinvention Programme?

The programme offers successful candidates a paid fixed-term contract of 6 months, with the possibility of a permanent role at the end of this period.

The opportunities available embrace hybrid working, with their Head Office in Speke as your office location when onsite. They’re also happy to discuss flexible working arrangements including part time. Check out more on making hybrid happen here!

They’ll provide you with any additional training you need in your role to help get you back up to speed. You will have the support of a buddy and a mentor, as well as receiving coaching support from Women Returners to help you transition successfully back into the workplace.

You will be working on amazing projects whilst honing your skills, all whilst being surrounded by a collaborative environment of professionals from whom you can learn and grow.

Are you the right candidate?

The programme is aimed at people who’ve taken a career break for 2 or more years as at February 2022, whether this be for childcare, eldercare, or other reasons. You may have been working on a small-scale basis to fit around your other commitments or have not carried out any paid work for a number of years.

Successful candidates will be passionate about learning new skills and technologies and will possess prior experience operating at the mid-senior level in any of the following roles: QA Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers and Data Scientists.

They are looking for people with experience in the following;

  • Object-oriented Programming
  • Scripting Programming
  • HTML/CSS
  • Database Design / Admin
  • Test Automation

Who are interested in developing skills in one or more of these fields;

  • Software Engineering: Java, Go, JavaScript (Node.js / React)
  • Data Engineering: Java, Scala, Python, Data Lake / Warehouse
  • Data Science: R, Python, SAS
  • Platform Engineering: Amazon Web Services
  • QA Engineering: JUnit, K6, Elastic
  • Agile practices and process
