We are delighted to launch the Returners to Financial Services Scotland Cross-Company Returner Programme 2022.

Join us on 11 January, 9.30am-12pm to find out more from the participating employers abrdn, Baillie Gifford and BlackRock about opportunities on the programme. This forms part of the Career Boost Programme funded by the Scottish Government.

About the Returners to Financial Services Scotland Cross-Company Returner Programme 2022

The Programme offers a 6-month returnship placement with one of the participating employers. All roles will be based in Edinburgh but we anticipate the programme will include hybrid working. The 6-month placement will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience to apply for a permanent role at the end of the programme.  Positions are at a professional level with a range of roles and areas available; these will be advertised when the programme application process opens in mid-December.

This is a fully supported route back to work and you will receive internal mentoring and a buddy, together with coaching support from Women Returners to help you to transition successfully back into the workplace. As coaching support will be delivered centrally, you will benefit from a supportive peer network of like-minded people across all the organisations. Various flexible working options may be available during and after the Programme depending on the employer organisation and the role.

How will you benefit from the Launch Event?

The Launch Event will provide you with the opportunity to find out more about how the Programme will support you back to professional level employment within the financial services sector:

  • Find out from the employers about the returnship opportunities on offer through the Programme
  • Hear from a selection of the Returners from the 2018/2019 cohorts about their experience and successful return to work
  • Participate in a return-to-work workshop facilitated by Women Returners
  • Meet with other like-minded returners during the workshop and start to build your professional network

Who is the Launch Event for?

The Event is targeted at experienced professional women who have had an extended career break of at least 18 months (as at March 2022), who are looking to return to work within the financial services sector, and who are interested in applying for the returnship Programme. You may have taken time out to look after children or elderly/sick relatives, for relocation, for a personal health issue or for other reasons. You may have been working on a small-scale basis to fit around your other commitments or have not done any paid work for a number of years.

You must have the right to work in the UK to attend the event and apply for the programme.

As this programme is funded by the Scottish Government Women Returners Fund it is only open for women to apply.

Information on the Returners to Financial Services Scotland Cross-Company Returner Programme

The Returners to Financial Services Scotland Programme is now in its third year. The 2018 pilot programme supported 28 women to return to professional level roles within the industry and 86% secured permanent employment at the end of the programme. In 2019, 10 returners joined the programme with 7 securing employment post-programme.

‘”I would recommend this programme to anyone who has taken a career break. I don’t think I would be where I am today without this opportunity. During the programme I had interesting work which challenged me and enabled me to use my skills.  The coaching and peer group support was just what I needed to support me back into the workplace.”  2018 programme participant.
