What is NTS?

NTS was established in April 2021 through a merger of three leading specialist transport and logistics companies: PNTL, INS and DRS. They were established with a vision to be the leading global provider of safe, secure and reliable nuclear transport solutions. Although they are a commercial organisation, with revenues from customers, their shareholder is the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. NDA is a government body who is undertaking the biggest environmental clean-up project in Europe – one that will take many decades to complete. NTS will play a critical role in this mission as well as delivering for customers in the UK and beyond.  Find out more about working at NTS here.

NTS operates three businesses:

Rail: Operating as DRS, they are one of the five largest rail freight companies in the UK. Their main focus is on a long-standing nuclear customer base, but they provide a number of rail services in consumer goods and general freight markets

Shipping: Operating as PNTL, they are the leading international transporter of nuclear materials. Their main customer-base is amongst the Japanese power sector, who they support from a Tokyo office. In recent years, they have expanded their offering to work for other international customers and Governments

Solutions: Is NTS’s newly formed consultancy arm that offers a range of advice, services and expertise associated with nuclear transport. The major focus is in engineering and logistics services to solve problems for customers.

NTS aims to be a brilliant place to work; their goal is to be a modern and inclusive employer where people are proud to work and feel respected and able to perform at their best. To ensure this, they have appointed an executive level sponsor for diversity and inclusion who is the driving force of diversity action plans, raising the awareness of diversity and inclusion across NTS, and supporting the HR team to transform diversity across the business. Being part of NTS you will have access to a number of employee led affinity networks that help deliver meaningful change in all areas of diversity and inclusion.
